Date of Event:
First planning meeting for the Compassionate Communities Conference to be held Saint Mark's Cathedral in Seattle on March 14-15, 2014, You are invited to be part of the organizing team!
In July, the US Conference of Mayors called on cities everywhere to join our International Compassionate Cities Campaign. On March 14-15, 2014, the Compassionate Communities Conference will be hosted by Saint Mark's Cathedral in Seattle. The conference will invite leaders from across our region -- in government, business, schools, health care, religious & spiritual communities -- to partner in creating thriving, resilient, compassionate communities. Our goal will be to bring the Charter for Compassion to life in practical, measurable ways in diverse sectors across our entire bio-region, embracing scores of communities. A truly compassionate community works intentionally to create racial and social justice, address wealth disparity, and heal our planet. The call for this first organizing meeting is issued by Saint Mark’s Cathedral, Charter for Compassion International, Compassionate Seattle, Northwest Interspiritual Community Outreach (NICO), and other key leaders from various communities and sectors.
Possible outcomes include:
- Creation of a regional organizing hub for the International Compassionate Cities Campaign.
- Basis for ongoing collaborations to address racial and social justice, wealth disparity, climate change, compassion movements in education, business, health care, governance, etc.
- Strengthened, flourishing, interdependent interspiritual movement
- Enhanced capacity to create innovative solutions across lines of class, race, religion, politics, etc.
